Constipation is a common problem for many adults and children.
There are actually several foods to help constipation symptoms.
There are so many things in nature that counter act symptoms of
various ailments. As a society we tend to run quickly to the pharmacy
section of our grocery store every time we have a headache come on or
we develop a stomach issue. We do not take the time to realize that a
lot of the symptoms of issues like constipation have a food that can
assist in relief on a daily basis. While some suffer from
constipation on an occasional basis, others, particularly children,
suffer from this discomfort daily.
Many foods are high in fiber and laxative properties and can help
relieve the constipation symptoms. Fruits and vegetables contain
fiber. Fiber turns into bulk by swelling and needs liquids to
accomplish this goal. A large number of people do not drink enough
liquid to make the fiber in their food work effectively. So, the
first key to relieving constipation is to drink enough fluids. Some
fruits that are helpful in relieving constipation are apples,
apricots, blackberries, dates, figs, raisins, papaya, peaches, pears,
plums, prunes, raspberries and strawberries. Bananas also contain
fiber, however, they are also high in potassium which can cause
constipation. There are many vegetables that can also assist with
constipation relief such as artichokes, asparagus, avocados, beans,
broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celery,
lettuce peas, spinach (also high in iron which can create
constipation) and sweet potato.
There are still more foods that you can munch on to help move that
constipation out of your life. Items containing nuts like almonds and
walnuts can be effective. Anything containing bran, coconut, garlic,
honey, oatmeal, olive oil, sesame seed and even a spoon full of castor
oil can bring relief.
A great way to ward off constipation in the first place is to keep
track of the foods you are ingesting. Try to balance out what you are
eating and eat plenty of fiber and other foods to help constipation in
your daily diet. This will ensure that things move smoothly from the
start. Nature has put in front of us all the things our body needs to
function properly. It is just a matter of keeping that in mind when
making our daily food selections, especially with young children who
can not make those choices for themselves.
